Treatment of the pelvic floor is also important, and retraining of these muscles can help with pelvic floor dysfunction and bladder problems. 1 to 1 Pilates At mlh we are able offer 1 to 1 pilates sessions. This is provided by one of our Physiotherapists, who is an APPI Qualified Instructor. APPI is the leading European institution in training Physiotherapists in Pilates Instruction. Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates in Germany. Pilates called his method Contrology because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles. The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles. Massage Therapy Massage is the manipulation of superficial and deep layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function, aid healing and promote relaxation and wellbeing. Classes We offer a variety of classes that promote both physical and mental wellbeing. |
